A personal view on living on the 7th floor of a flat on a council estate in Camden, North London

BANG, BANG, BANG...

Last night my boyfriend and I were woken by the sound of 3 bangs on our big metal door!

We have a 'normal' front door but in front of that for extra safety we have a big, blue, metal door. Someone awake us with their constant banging. Because of the sound against the metal door of someone banging, it seemed so loud and must have gone on for a good 5 minutes! I was frozen in the bedroom, thinking all sorts, was there a fire in the building, police at the door, kids trying to get in... we decided we had to investigate and my boyfriend switched the light on and made his way to the front door. I have never been so scared in my life!

The banging continued, bare in mind it was 12:30am, until my boyfriend spoke through the letter box to ask what was going on. It was a lady who said she lived downstairs and asked us to turn the music down. To which my boyfriend replied, 'we were in bed, we have no music on!' To which she said she was so embarrassed and went on her way!

No apologies for disturbing us and giving me the fright of my life!

Following the antics of 'children' in the stairway

This is my first blog post and ideally I wanted to write and show you my fashion purchases as I am totally addicted to shopping! But I need to start documenting what goes on outside my front door of a council estate in Camden, North London. One so I have some kind of evidence in case I ever need it and two because there is normally something going on!

I have lived here for just over 2 years and I am totally obsessed with the flat. The location is amazing and because I live on the 7th floor the views over the rooftops of London and the sunsets are breathtaking.

Here are a few pic's of the snow...

To be honest it has been pretty quiet living here, until quite recently. There are so many 'kids' that come and sit on the cold steps of the stairwell I guess for shelter and somewhere to go where there can smoke and drink in peace as I am sure they are underage from what I have seen of them. To be fair apart from the mess they leave when they go, they do seem really 'nice' and pretty harmless.

We have had a couple of incidences of a firework being let off inside the stairwell and a glass bottle being thrown at our front door! But hey like the policeman I called to report the incident to said, 'kids will be kids'.

Remnant of a fire that was started with a pile of newspapers...

Colouring on the wall...

Totally redesigning the wall...
